The Defence Acquisition Council ( DAC), chaired by Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh, on October 23, 2025, approved capital acquisition proposals worth about Rs 79,000 crore for the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force during a meeting held at South Block, New Delhi as per a PIB press release.
Indian Army
The council accorded Acceptance of Necessity (AoN) for the procurement of the Nag Missile System (Tracked) Mk-II (NAMIS), Ground Based Mobile ELINT System (GBMES) and High Mobility Vehicles (HMVs) with Material Handling Crane.
According to the Ministry of Defence, the NAMIS (Tracked) will enhance the Army’s capability to neutralise enemy combat vehicles, bunkers and other field fortifications, while the GBMES will provide round-the-clock electronic intelligence on enemy emitters. The induction of HMVs is expected to improve logistic support to forces across diverse terrains.
Indian Navy
For the Navy, AoN was granted for the procurement of Landing Platform Docks (LPD), 30mm Naval Surface Gun (NSG), Advanced Light Weight Torpedoes (ALWT), Electro Optical Infra-Red Search and Track System, and Smart Ammunition for the 76mm Super Rapid Gun Mount.
The Ministry stated that LPDs will enhance the Navy’s amphibious operations in coordination with the Army and Air Force, and aid in peacekeeping, humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations. The ALWT, developed indigenously by DRDO’s Naval Science & Technological Laboratory, is designed to target conventional, nuclear and midget submarines.
The 30mm NSG will strengthen the Navy and Coast Guard’s capability in low-intensity maritime and anti-piracy operations.
Indian Air Force
For the Air Force, the DAC approved the AoN for the Collaborative Long Range Target Saturation/Destruction System (CLRTS/DS) and other proposals. The CLRTS/DS system, as per the Ministry, has autonomous capabilities for take-off, landing, navigation, target detection and payload delivery in mission areas.
