Indian intelligence agencies have warned that Pakistan may gradually divert some terrorists of Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP) towards Jammu and Kashmir.
The Pakistani military is training Islamic State (IS) terrorists. The Pakistani military is not only providing weapons to IS terrorists but also providing specialized training to the terrorist organization's commanders. Pakistan aims to use ISI terrorists against its neighbors. To this end, Pakistan has established four camps. Experts say that Pakistan may gradually divert some Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP) terrorists to Jammu and Kashmir.
Since tensions with the Afghan Taliban over the Durand Line have escalated, Pakistan and ISKP militants have become increasingly close. This has led to Pakistan carrying out airstrikes in Afghanistan, and the Taliban have responded strongly.
Training of over 1,000 ISKP terrorists
In recent months, Pakistan has expanded the number of training camps specifically for ISKP terrorists. Intelligence Bureau officials say the ISI is planning to train over 1,000 ISKP terrorists with the intention of attacking the Afghan Taliban. Indian agencies, meanwhile, say the terrorists are receiving various types of training.
Militants are being trained for ground combat, enabling them to confront Taliban fighters. Experts say there are also training camps for suicide bombers. Several current and former Pakistani army officers are involved in this training process.
ISKP aims to end Taliban rule
The ISKP has been in conflict with the Taliban ever since its inception. Its goal is to overthrow the Taliban regime and take control of Afghanistan. Experts believe that many ISKP members are being deported from Afghanistan to Pakistan and then sent to camps in the tribal areas of Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Afghan security officials arrested a man named Mohammad. Mohammad's arrest confirmed claims that Pakistan has become a training center for ISKP terrorists. The detained terrorist told security officials that he received combat training in Quetta, Pakistan. When he entered Afghanistan with a fake identity card, his name was Mohammad. ISKP had made considerable efforts to influence him with its ideology.
ISKP also has its eyes on Jammu and Kashmir
Experts believe that ISKP's focus is currently on Afghanistan. Experts warn that this could have future implications for the entire region. ISKP is also eyeing India and may expand its operations beyond Afghanistan in the future.
When the ISKP was founded, its focus was to defeat the Taliban. However, it also made it clear that it was interested in establishing a caliphate that included India. This terrorist group has shown great interest in creating tension in Jammu and Kashmir.
ISKP may target Indian youth
Experts say that Pakistan may gradually send some ISKP terrorists to Jammu and Kashmir. The ISI believes that having another terrorist group in the Valley, in addition to Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba, will strengthen its fight. The Pakistani Army's open training of terrorist organizations has certainly raised further concerns for Indian agencies.
There is speculation that the ISKP will target Indian youth from border areas, brainwash them, and send them to Pakistan for training. According to a recent count, at least 21 individuals from Kerala have left the country and joined the ISKP in Afghanistan. They were being trained to later be sent back to India to carry out terrorist attacks.
