Horror fire rips through multiple vehicles in major UK shopping centre car park

A fire erupted in a busy shopping centre car park on Saturday evening, tearing through three cars. Firefighters rushed to Manchester's Trafford Centre at approximately 6.45pm where they found the blaze spreading from one parked car to the two either side of it.

Images from the scene revealed orange flames leaping above the motors, close to a Christmas tree display, whilst smoke poured across the car park, and shocked shoppers watched on. A witness reported the car park was 'sealed off' as both fire teams and paramedics arrived. Two fire appliances attended the location and doused the flames, the fire service has confirmed.

Nobody sustained injuries. All three motors were petrol-powered vehicles, a spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) confirmed.

The origin of the initial blaze remains unknown, however it is not being considered suspicious or intentional, Manchester Evening News reports.

A spokesperson for GMFRS said: "Shortly after 6.45pm this evening (Saturday 8 November), two fire engines from Sale and Salford fire stations were called to attend a fire involving three vehicles in a car park at the Trafford Centre.

"Crews arrived quickly and used breathing apparatus and two hose reels to extinguish the fire.

"Firefighters made the area safe before departing after approximately one hour and 15 minutes at the scene."
