Nightmare for Keir Starmer as Labour slumps to new low in bombshell poll

Labour has slipped into third place in a new poll in a fresh blow to Sir Keir Starmer. The survey by More in Common puts Labour on 18%, down three points from the week before.

Nigel Farage's Reform UK is in the lead with 31%, down two points, while the Tories are second on 19%, up one. The Lib Dems are fourth on 13%, up one, while the Greens are also up one on 12%.

It is the lowest score the pollster has recorded for Sir Keir's party since the general election in July last year.

Meanwhile, it is the highest score the company has put the left-wing Greens.

It comes ahead of Chancellor Rachel Reeves's Budget later this month which could further damage Labour's popularity.

Ms Reeves laid the groundwork for more tax hikes in a Downing Street speech yesterday just three weeks out from the major fiscal statement.

She refused to stand by Labour's manifesto pledge not to increase income tax, national insurance or VAT.

But senior figures within the Government are reportedly unhappy with the Chancellor's plans.

A minister told The Times: "Breaking the manifesto will mean we lose some voters forever."

The Conservatives have called on Ms Reeves to stand down if she goes ahead with tax rises.

The poll of 2,031 people was carried out from October 31 to November 3.
